Hello friends! Welcome to a new Happy Learning video.
Today, we’re going to know why the stars, shine!

In summer, I love to watch the stars shine bright. They make me think and look back on many things…

Stars shine because they are gigantic burning hot gas spheres that release heat and light. They are so bright because there are atomic reactions inside them, that convert hydrogen into helium. Their temperature can reach 10.000 degrees centigrade. According to the colours they give off, astronomers know if they are hotter or cooler.
Our sun is a medium sized yellow star. Stars smaller than the sun are reddish and larger ones are blue.

Stars live for thousands of millions of years, but they always end up becoming extinguished.

When we look into the sky at night we can see hundreds and hundreds of stars. Some of them, either because they are very big or because they are closer to Earth, are very visible. Others, which are smaller or further away are tiny points that can hardly be seen.

At a glance from Earth, we can see about 2000 stars, but really, there are thousands and thousands of stars in the universe, but nobody knows exactly how many there are.

In the past, stars were very important for sailor’s orientation. Because of the Polar Star, the Ursa Major or Venus, sailors knew what directions to take and got to their destinations safe and sound. To see the stars better, they used devices such as the telescope.

The telescope is a gadget that works with light and is used to watch far away objects a lot clearer than by glance.
But… who was the inventor of the telescope?
The truth is we don’t know with certainty, but it was Galileo in 1609 who, using an invention by a Dutch man called Lippershey (Lipershy), built the first telescope that was used to look at the stars and because world famous.

Well, now we know why stars shine and the instrument so we can look at them. The truth is I love stars. What about you?

Educational Videos and songs for Kids. Today we’re going to learn about reptiles!
Reptiles are vertebrate animals which are characterized by their special way of moving: many move by dragging their tummy, or abdomen, on or close to the ground; their name,
in Latin, means just that: reptar mean to crawl or slither.
Many are terrestrial, but there are also some that live in water.
All reptiles have a number of characteristics we should know about so we can recognize them. Reptiles are cold-blooded animals
that breathe with their lungs.
They are oviparous, that is they reproduce by eggs; when the eggs develop and hatch, the babies are just like their parents...
but very small. Aren’t they cute?
As you can see, reptiles’ skin is covered with strong, tough scales, and some, like tortoises, even have a shell. It looks like he has his house on his back, doesn’t it?
As for feeding well, most reptiles are carnivorous... They hunt,
like this crocodile which has just eaten this poor rodent;
or this cute chameleon, with its long, sticky tongue that catches all kinds of insects... Look, look! As we said already,
most reptiles are carnivorous, but some, like this iguana, are herbivorous.
There are lots of interesting things you should know about reptiles,
such as: most snakes have venom in their fangs...
But they’re not as bad as they seem, because they warn us of danger with their bright colors or the sound of their rattles.
Chameleons are very curious: they can change color, copying the landscape around them they blend in with the background so no-one can see them, and they become almost invisible.
So let’s remember the most important characteristics of reptiles.
Reptiles walk by dragging their tummy on or close to the ground;
they are oviparous and their body is covered with strong, hard scales...
They are vertebrates and are cold-blooded... And remember, they breathe with their lungs. Reptiles really are quite interesting, aren’t they? Well, goodbye for now everyone,
and don’t forget to subscribe to Happy Learning!

Hello friends! Welcome to a new Happy Learning video.
Today, we are going to learn how to add numbers! Wait and see how fun it is…

Adding is joining things, and counting them, it’s that simple. For example… Let’s add how many toys we have…
It’s 1 plus 1, 2! , plus 1, three! We have three toys. Easy peasy huh?

As you can see, we use this sign when we are adding, and it’s called PLUS. Let’s do another example.

If a chicken lays 3 eggs, and another chicken lays 5 eggs. How many eggs do I have in total? Let’s see…
3 eggs, plus 5 eggs is 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 and 8 eggs!

When we’re adding, we only write down the number. We don’t say what we are talking about, so it’s easier to write!

If we add 4 blue marbles, plus 2 green marbles we write 4 + 2 that makes a total of 6. So we know we have 6 marbles.

Each one of the quantities that we add are called summands, and a simple addition can have as many summands as we wish. Additions can be written vertically, like this one… or horizontally, like this one…

For now, we’ve seen very simple additions, but it’s time to do some that are little more complicated…

To add larger figures, such as 32 plus 56, we place one summand under the other, ones under ones... and tens under tens. Like this!

32
56
And then we place the plus sign.

Now, we need to add the ones from both summands. 2 plus 6 equals 8. And now let’s add the tens. 3 plus 5 equals 8, so the final result is… 88! (that rhymes with mate).

But what happens if the addition has remainders and more than two summards?
It’s easy peasy! Let’s add 15 plus 27 plus 4.

As we’ve seen before, we place the summards under each other, nes under ones... and tens under tens. It looks like this!
15
27
+ 4

Now we add the ones, 5 plus 7 equals 12, plus 4 equals 16. With the number 16, 6 represents ones and 1 represents tens. Because there are no more units to add, we put number 6 by the result, but number 1 represents tens so we can’t place it yet because we haven’t added tens! So we turn it in a new summand and we take it to the tens column.

Now we can add up all tens!
1
15
27
+ 4
-----
6

1 plus 1 is 2, plus two is 4 and we put number 4 in the results, under tens. So the additions final result is 46!

Easy peasy huh?

Now you need to practice lots! Because, as we said before, it’s very useful and entertaining!

Goodbye friends! And don’t forget to subscribe to Happy Learning Tv!

According to a recent report from the National Center for Educational Statistics violence, including student violence against teachers, is on the rise in America's schools. Statistics show that early 7% of high schoolers stayed home because they felt unsafe at or on their way to school. The increase of violent school threats is breeding fear, anxiety and frustration for educators, children and parents.

The good news in all of this is that in many cases the school community can in fact do something to help prevent school violence. That’s what this program is all about—ways we can prevent school violence and help to keep our schools safe.

Violence is anything that hurts a person physically or emotionally. School violence refers to any act of violence that occurs within a school community. Both “threats of violence” and physical “acts of violence” create an unsettling and unsafe environment for everyone in a school community. Why does it happen? How can school violence be prevented? This program explores answers to those questions and seeks to help students understand the important role they play in preventing school violence.

Through live-action, true-to-life scenarios viewers will learn to identify potential problem behaviors and warning signs that can typically lead to violence. Viewers will recognize that an important way they can prevent school violence has to do with simply being aware of the people around you and being able to spot something that isn’t quite right before it escalates.

Students will come to understand the difference between a direct and indirect threat and how context of the threat determines how threats should be handled.

In addition, students will learn to identify behaviors that may be warning signs to potential violent actions and that whenever they feel threatened or unsafe that they have an obligation to report the incident to trusted adult within the school community.

Preventing school violence isn’t something that should be left to just the police and the government when there is so much that a school community can do together. Students will realize there is a link between violence and a person’s need to feel connected to someone in the school community. Learn what you can do as an educator and teach your students what they can do and start making your school safer today.

Learning Objectives:

• Students play an important role in helping to prevent school violence
• Violence is any behavior that hurts a person physically or emotionally
• Awareness of both “threats” of violence and “acts” of violence
• Identify behaviors that may be warning signs to potential violence
• Understand the difference between direct and indirect threats
• Realize the importance of feeling “connected” to someone in the school community
• Report behaviors or incidents that make you feel threatening or unsafe

School violence encompasses physical violence, including student-on-student fighting and corporal punishment; psychological violence, including verbal abuse; sexual violence, including rape and sexual harassment; many forms of bullying, including cyberbullying; and carrying weapons in school. It is widely held to have become a serious problem in recent decades in many countries, especially where weapons such as guns or knives are involved. It includes violence between school students as well as physical attacks by students on school staff.

A distinction is made between internalizing and externalizing behavior. Internalizing behaviors reflect withdrawal, inhibition, anxiety, and/or depression. Internalizing behavior has been found in some cases of youth violence although in some youth, depression is associated with substance abuse. Because they rarely act out, students with internalizing problems are often overlooked by school personnel. Externalizing behaviors refer to delinquent activities, aggression, and hyperactivity. Unlike internalizing behaviors, externalizing behaviors include, or are directly linked to, violent episodes. Violent behaviors such as punching and kicking are often learned from observing others. Just as externalizing behaviors are observed outside of school, such behaviors also observed in schools.
